Diabetes: The silent killer

Around 366 million people are now suffering from diabetes and it is now a global epidemic according to the opinion of health experts. The disease can be managed with proper diet and exercises and a consistently high level of glucose in blood can lead to nerve damage that can eventually result in blindness, diseases of the kidney and amputation. Due to the complications that canaries from diabetes, a patient may require frequent hospitalization and health insurance policies will allow people to have better treatments to tackle this disorder. The rising costs of these diseases have led many families to opt for health insurance policies to manage the costs during hospitalization.

While Type 1 diabetes affects children and young adults who for the inability to produce insulin, Type 2 diabetes is more often caused due to obesity and also referred to a lifestyle disease now. It occurs when the body is unable to produce enough amount of insulin in the body that helps to break the glucose and it keeps accumulating in the blood leading to inflated blood sugar levels. It is one of the major causes of health concern around the world and the health experts around the world are trying to prevent this disease from becoming a chronic epidemic.

The International Diabetic Federation that has established the studies have described that there is one patient dying every seven seconds due to diabetes. However, the federation intends to take genuine steps to stop the epidemic and at a United Nations meeting next week, they are supposed to focus on the specific targets related to this disease and urge to invest more in the research of diabetes.

Diabetes have become a global epidemic and people across the globe should realize it sooner and become conscious about their lifestyle but in cases of family history, it is better to have a health insurance policy to get proper treatment.
